Mr. Corrigan is a highly experienced business litigator and transaction lawyer who will fight for you to the maximum extent permitted by law. Mr. Corrigan developed big firm legal skills and experience as an associate at a nationally renowned bankruptcy boutique, Gendel, Raskoff, Shapiro & Quittner, where he worked for two years, then for three years at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan in its bankruptcy reorganization practice group, and finished his big firm training with 5 years at Kaye Scholer Fierman Hays & Handler, where he worked as a senior associate in its insolvency and litigation practice groups. In 1999, Mr. Corrigan founded Corrigan & Morris LLP with Stanley C. Morris. Since 1999, Corrigan & Morris LLP has worked on a broad range of legal matters, focusing primarily on business litigation. Mr. Corrigan has represented clients in arbitrations, as well as federal, bankruptcy and state court proceedings throughout California and the United States. Mr. Corrigan’s litigation practice has included representation of both plaintiffs and defendants, and has included a broad range of matters, including bankruptcy, securities, business fraud, contract, intellectual property, employer/employee claims and real estate matters. Mr. Corrigan also acts as outside general business counsel for a small number of clients, and, as such, becomes involved in forming business entities, advising on employment disputes, leasing and providing general contract negotiation and drafting services.

 

EDUCATION & COURT ADMISSIONS

Mr. Corrigan earned a BS in Accounting from Loyola Marymount University in 1983, while working as an LA County Beach Lifeguard and captaining LMU’s water polo team.

After college, he earned his CPA working in the tax and audit departments for Price Waterhouse. Mr. Corrigan maintains his CPA standing in inactive status with the State Board of Accountancy.

Mr. Corrigan next earned his Juris Doctorate from Southwestern School of Law, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude (second in his class) in 1989.

In law school, Mr. Corrigan received American Jurisprudence and Exceptional Achievement Awards for receiving top scores in his class, including Constitutional Law, Remedies, Introduction to Income Taxes and Bankruptcy.

Mr. Corrigan has been a member in good standing of the California State Bar and all state and federal courts in California since 1989. Mr. Corrigan has also appeared with temporary permission from courts, as appropriate, in federal and state courts and administrative proceedings in New York, Florida, Washington DC and Nevada.

  

LEADERSHIP, MEMBERSHIP & HONORS

At Southwestern, Mr. Corrigan earned top honors in many subjects, including American Jurisprudence Awards in Bankruptcy, Remedies and Introduction to Income Taxation, and Exceptional Achievement Awards in Sales and Estate Planning and Drafting.

Mr. Corrigan was named as a Southern California Super Lawyer in the magazine’s 2006 edition.

Mr. Corrigan is a member of St. Monica Catholic Church; and coached little league and pony league baseball and softball teams and AYSO soccer teams for over a decade while his children were playing youth sports.

Mr. Corrigan is the proud father of four children. He and his family have been active members of their community in Santa Monica for the past 50 years.
